Help & troubleshooting

Start here: the one rule that fixes most problems

The portal knows you by the email address Canvas uses for you — the address where you receive Canvas course emails. Sign in with that exact address. A different address, even one that is also yours, will not find your record.

Not sure which address that is? Look for emails from Canvas or “Instructure” (the company that runs Canvas) — the inbox where those arrive is the one to use.

I never received my Canvas invitation

When you enroll, Canvas emails you a course invitation that you must accept before you can start. If you cannot find it:

  1. Search your email for “invitation” or “instructure” — the invitation comes from Canvas, not from a person.
  2. Check your spam or junk folder. Invitation emails land there often, especially with church email addresses and Yahoo.
  3. Found it? Open it and press the button inside (it says something like “Get Started” or “Accept”), then follow the steps on the screen.
  4. The link says it expired, or nothing happens? Invitations can expire. Email us at [email protected] and we will send you a fresh one — this is quick and completely normal.

After you have accepted, you can always reach Canvas at https://baylorcatalog.instructure.com — bookmark it.

The sign-in code email did not arrive

  1. Give it two minutes. It usually arrives within one.
  2. Check spam or junk. The email comes from Truett Seminary OCP.
  3. Check that you typed the right address — the code goes to exactly the address you entered, typos included.
  4. Request a new code. There is no penalty. Use the newest email — each new code replaces the old one.

“We could not find your record”

Your code worked, so your email is fine — but the address you used is not the one on your OCP record. Try the address where you receive Canvas course emails. If you recently changed your email address, your record still has the old one — we can update it in a minute once you tell us.

My code did not work

  1. Codes expire. If you waited a while before typing it, request a new one — it takes seconds.
  2. Use the newest email. If you pressed “Email me a code” more than once, only the latest code counts.
  3. Type all six digits, with no spaces.

Phones, laptops, and the sign-in link

  • The code works on any device. If the email is on your phone but you are working on a laptop, just type the code on the laptop.
  • The link signs you in on the device where you tap it. Tap it on your phone and you are signed in on the phone — which is fine, but if you wanted the laptop, use the code there instead.
  • Each device and browser signs in separately. Signing in on your phone does not sign in your laptop. Each one asks about every three months.
  • Tapped the link and the page looks odd? Some email apps open pages inside a small built-in browser. If things look wrong, open your regular browser (Safari, Chrome, or Edge), go to this site, and sign in with the code instead.

Other common questions

  • The portal asked me to sign in again. Sign-ins last about three months on each device, then quietly expire. Request a new code — nothing is wrong and nothing is lost.
  • I pressed the back button and things looked strange. Go to the address bar and open the portal fresh — your information is safe.
  • Where are my grades? Grades and feedback live in Canvas. The portal shows your progress and status, and every course tile links straight into Canvas.
  • Is this site safe? Yes. The portal stores no passwords, and it shows only your own information after you confirm your email.

Still stuck? Email us — we are glad to help

One tap opens an email to the OCP office with the basics already filled in. Add a sentence about what you tried and what you saw — a photo or screenshot of the screen helps a lot.
